Youth Leadership Council

The Agua Fria Union High School District, in collaboration with the CARE Coalition and Touchstone Health Services, formed a youth leadership council (YLC) to tackle substance abuse among young people. This provides a unique opportunity for students across the district to gather and work together to educate, raise awareness, and drive positive change in their district.

Goals of YLC members:

  • Increase youth, parents, and caregivers risk perception of substance use and substance use reduction
  • Assist in substance use reduction by implementing trauma and evidence-based strategies and interventions
  • Increase awareness on substance prevention by providing resources and education
  • Raise community awareness about the risks and harm of youth substance abuse
