Making Proud Choices! is an evidence-based sexual health curriculum designed to help teens understand behaviors that put them at risk for pregnancy, HIV and other STDs, and to empower teens to reduce this risk through healthy decision-making.

The goal of Making Proud Choices! is to empower youth to change their behavior in ways that will reduce their risk of an unplanned pregnancy or becoming infected with HIV and other STIs. Specifically, this curriculum emphasizes that adolescents can reduce their risk for STIs, HIV, and pregnancy by using a condom if they choose to have sex.

This curriculum has 8 hours of content divided into eight 1-hour modules. It can be implemented in eight 60-minute sessions or four 2-hour modules. In community settings, it can be implemented in a 2-day format (four modules per day), a 4-day format (two modules per day), or an 8-day format (one module per day). We add two sessions for our pre- and post-test. These are used to see the changes in attitudes and knowledge on the subjects covered. This program is well-suited for use in both school and community settings.
