Fostering Supportive Communities: A Guide to School-Based Postvention

May 3 @ 1:00 pm 2:30 pm

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth in Arizona and across the United States. Schools and districs can keep their students safe by implementing strategic and comprehensive plans for suicide prevention. The goal of suicide prevention is to decrease risk and increase protective factors within a community. In this session, participants will learn how to identify campus readiness, increase a sense of connectedness on campus, ensure students know about resources available to them, and educate staff, families, and students to recognize suicide risk. Learning these steps will help school-based staff feel more comfortable, competent, and confident creating strategic plans for suicide prevention within their schools and districts.
